Following a couple of weeks of rather lively purchases for October production, Turkey-based tinplate buyers have slowed down their restocking. Still, the producers, though providing some discounts, are optimistic for their pricing for the end of November and December.

According to sources, the latest local sales prices for 0.3 mm TS275 2.8g/2.8m2 tinplate were at $1,550-1,570/mt ex-works, while around a week ago the levels were $10/mt higher. Mills are almost sold out for October production and one of them is already selling for November, SteelOrbis understands.

Still, since domestic buyers have decided to take their time with purchases for now, while Turkish tinplate producers have been aiming to sell small lots for export. Deals have been reported at $1,470-1,520/mt FOB depending on the seller.

Owing to their export sales, Turkish producers are not now under much pressure to sell and are aiming to increase their offers. In particular, export prices are now up to $1,540-1,550/mt FOB, while in the local market the offers for December production may reach $1,580-1,600/mt ex-works, SteelOrbis understands.
