US tool steel exports down 12.2 percent in April

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of tool steel totaled 8,660 mt in April 2023, down 12.2 percent from March but up 17.1 percent from April 2022. By value, tool steel exports totaled $17.3 million in April, compared to $19.3 million in the previous month and $14.4 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most tool steel to Mexico in April with 6,559 mt, compared to 6,533 mt in March and 4,149 mt in April 2022. Other top destinations included Canada, with 1,873 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US tool steel exports in April.
