US tin plate imports up 2.6 percent in December

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of tin plate totaled 41,024 mt in December 2019, up 2.6 percent from November but down 14.1 percent from December 2018 levels. By value, tin plate imports totaled $44.7 million in December 2019, compared to $42.1 million in the previous month and $49.7 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most tin plate from Germany in December, with 13,490 mt, compared to 11,135 mt in November and 16,442 mt in December 2018. Other top sources of imported tin plate in December include Canada, with 11,135 mt; Netherlands, with 7,845 mt; Korea, with 4,898 mt; and China, with 1,616 mt.
