US tin plate imports up 21.9 percent in May

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of tin plate totaled 93,104 mt in May 2023, up 21.9 percent from April and up 2.0 percent from May 2022 levels. By value, tin plate imports totaled $163.1 million in May 2023, compared to $130.9 million in April and $167.5 million in May 2022.

The US imported the most tin plate from Germany in May, with 33,305 mt, compared to 20,082 mt in April and 26,084 mt in May 2022. Other top sources of imported tin plate in May include Netherlands, with 28,579 mt; Canada, with 12,964 mt; South Korea, with 6,583 mt; and Turkey, with 5,139 mt.
