According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of tin plate totaled 52,484 mt in April 2020, up 13.7 percent from March but down 12.0 percent from April 2019 levels. By value tin plate imports totaled $52.7 million in April 2020, compared to $46.1 million in the previous month and $62.4 million in the same month last year.
The US imported the most tin plate from Netherlands in April, with 19,296 mt, compared to 14,311 mt in March and 15,689 mt in April 2019. Other top sources of imported tin plate in April include Canada, with 14,086 mt; Germany, with 9,753 mt; Korea, with 4,162 mt; and Taiwan, with 3,317 mt.
