According to census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of tin plate totaled 56,909 mt in October 2018, up 12.9 percent from September but down 25.0 percent from October 2017 levels. By value, tin plate imports totaled $59.0 million in October 2018, compared to $53.5 million in the previous month and $74.5 million in the same month last year.
The US imported the most tin plate from the Netherlands in October, with 25,915 mt, compared to 26,746 mt in September and 17,851 mt in October 2017. Other top sources of imported tin plate in October include Germany, with 13,414 mt; Canada, with 12,351 mt; Spain, with 1,818 mt; and China, with 1,783 mt.
