US structural pipe and tube imports up 8.2 percent in October

According to census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of structural pipe and tube totaled 27,533 mt in October 2018, up 8.2 percent from September but down 55.4 percent from October 2017 levels. By value, structural pipe and tube imports totaled $32.5 million in October 2018, compared to $27.8 million in the previous month and $63.5 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most structural pipe and tube from Canada in October, with 15,706 mt, compared to 14,848 mt in September and 24,995 mt in October 2017. Other top sources of imported structural pipe and tube in October include Mexico, with 4,783 mt; Korea, with 1,631 mt; Ukraine, with 1,317 mt; and Taiwan, with 1,103 mt.
