US structural pipe and tube imports up 33.2 percent in April

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of structural pipe and tube totaled 39,434 mt in April 2019, up 33.2 percent from March but down 25.1 percent from April 2018 levels. By value, structural pipe and tube imports totaled $50.8 million in April 2018, compared to $37.3 million in the previous month and $60.6 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most structural pipe and tube from Canada in April, with 16,463 mt, compared to 17,647 mt in March and 23,802 mt in April 2018. Other top sources of imported structural pipe and tube in April include Korea, with 12,283 mt; Mexico, with 5,040 mt; Italy, with 1,138 mt; and United Kingdom, with 1,044 mt.
