US structural pipe and tube imports down 12 percent in September

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of structural pipe and tube totaled 31,314 mt in September 2019, down 12.0 percent from August but up 23.1 percent from September 2018 levels. By value, structural pipe and tube imports totaled $38.9 million in September 2019, compared to $40.7 million in the previous month and $27.8 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most structural pipe and tube from Canada in September, with 21,468 mt, compared to 19,966 mt in August and 14,848 mt in September 2018. Other top sources of imported structural pipe and tube in September include Mexico, with 5,674 mt; and Korea, with 1,559 mt.
