According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, monthly steel exports in March this year increased by six percent from February and were down 6.2 percent year on year to 596,679 mt. In terms of value, US steel exports in March totaled $1.14 billion, compared to $1.05 billion in February and $1.15 billion in March 2025.
Steel exports to Mexico in March were up 4.4 percent compared to February and were up 14.8 percent year on year to 373,744 mt, while exports to Canada were up 10.1 percent month on month and down 27.5 percent compared to March 2025 to 188,560 mt.
Other top destinations for US steel exports in March included Australia with 2,489 mt, India with 2,109 mt, and Brazil with 2,033 mt.
Major steel products exported in March include HDG at 111,850 mt, hot rolled sheets at 53,666 mt, cut-length steel plates at 67,570 mt, cold rolled sheets at 68,586 mt, and plates in coil at 41,797 mt.
