According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, monthly steel exports in February this year decreased by 0.3 percent from January and were down 8.3 percent year on year to 562,729 mt. In terms of value, US steel exports in February totaled $1.05 billion, compared to $1.04 billion in January and $1.08 billion in February 2025.
Steel exports to Mexico in February were up 9.9 percent compared to January and were up 16.6 percent year on year to 357,949 mt, while exports to Canada were down 17.9 percent month on month and down 34.8 percent compared to February 2025 to 171,155 mt.
Other top destinations for US steel exports in February included Brazil with 3,584 mt, India with 1,889 mt, and China with 1,477 mt.
Major steel products exported in February include HDG at 104,999 mt, hot rolled sheets at 48,455 mt, cut-length steel plates at 61,143 mt, cold rolled sheets at 57,553 mt, and plates in coil at 44,713 mt.
