US OCTG imports down 25.1 percent in August

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 135,094 mt in August 2023, down 25.1 percent from July and down 25.0 percent from August 2022 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $269.8 million in August 2023, compared to $356.3 million in July and $321.3 million in August 2022.

The US imported the most OCTG from South Korea in August, with 39,687 mt, compared to 29,831 mt in July and 28,607 mt in August 2022. Other top sources of imported OCTG in August include Mexico, with 13,302 mt; Vietnam, with 11,279 mt; Japan, with 10,659 mt; and Canada, with 10,282 mt.
