US HRC imports down 22.6 percent in February

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of hot rolled sheets totaled 105,999 mt in February 2023, down 22.6 percent from January and down 25.5 percent from February 2022 levels. By value, HRC imports totaled $88.6 million in February 2023, compared to $108.9 million in January and $191.2 million in February 2022.

The US imported the most HRC from Canada in February, with 76,588 mt, compared to 83,591 mt in January and 55,621 mt in February 2022. Other top sources of imported HRC in February include Mexico, with 10,759 mt; Netherlands, with 6,014 mt; Brazil, with 4,067 mt; and South Korea, with 3,086 mt.
