US cut-length plate imports up 52.3 percent in October from September

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cut-length plate totaled 39,179 mt in October 2024, up 52.3 percent from September and down 40.7 percent from October 2023 levels. By value, cut-length plate imports totaled $66.7 million in October 2024, compared to $30.4 million in September and $95.7 million in in October 2023.

The US imported the most cut-length plate from Canada in October, with 18,908 mt, compared to 16,317 in September and 18,494 mt in October 2023. Other top sources of imported cut-length plate in October include South Korea with 12,213 mt, Australia with 2,380 mt, Sweden with 2,266 mt and Finland with 1,771 mt.
