According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold finished bar totaled 10,558 mt in June 2019, down 14.1 percent in May and down 33.9 percent from June 2018 levels. By value, cold finished bar imports totaled $15.2 million in June 2019, compared to $18.9 million in the previous month and $22.2 million in the same month last year.
The US imported the most cold finished bar from Germany in June, with 2,297 mt, compared to 2,811 mt in May and 4,117 mt in June 2018. Other top sources of imported cold finished bar in June include China, with 1,683 mt; Canada, with 1,452 mt; and Italy, with 1,169 mt.
