US beam imports down 0.3 percent in February

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of heavy structural shapes (including U, I, H, L, and T section beams) totaled 64,806 mt in February 2023, down 0.3 percent from January and down 3.7 percent from February 2022 levels. By value, beam imports totaled $73.8 million in February 2023, compared to $76.4 million in January and $72.0 million in February 2022.

The US imported the most beam from South Korea in February, with 27,060 mt, compared to 1,415 mt in January and 9,516 mt in February 2022. Other top sources of imported beam in February include Canada, with 8,859 mt; Mexico, with 8,810 mt; United Kingdom, with 5,203 mt; Spain, with 4,793 mt.
