US beam exports up 5.6 percent in February

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of heavy structural shapes (including U, I, H, L, and T section beams) totaled 37,818 mt in February 2023, up 2.4 percent from January and up 27.0 percent from February 2022. By value, beam exports totaled $47.6 million in February, compared to $50.3 million in the previous month and $39.2 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most beam to Canada in February with 25,755 mt, compared to 25,743 mt in January and 20,484 mt in February 2022. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 10,255 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US beam exports in February.
