US beam exports up 15.7 percent in November

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of heavy structural shapes (including U, I, H, L, and T section beams) totaled 27,073 mt in November 2018, up 15.7 percent from October but down 40.1 percent from November 2017 levels. By value, beam exports totaled $28.6 million in November, compared to $25.3 million in the previous month and $38.7 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most beams to Canada in November with 22,150 mt, compared to 17,249 mt in October and 36,028 mt in November 2017. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 3,640 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US beam exports in November.
