US beam exports down 15.6 percent in November

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of heavy structural shapes (including U, I, H, L, and T section beams) totaled 26,027 mt in November 2019, down 15.6 percent from October and down 3.9 percent from November 2018 levels. By value, beam exports totaled $22.4 million in November, compared to $27.8 million in the previous month and $28.6 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most beams to Canada in November with 19,687 mt, compared to 22,427 mt in October and 22,427 mt in November 2018. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 3,719 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US beam exports in November.
