US beam exports down 15.3 percent in June

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of heavy structural shapes (including U, I, H, L, and T section beams) totaled 42,971 mt in June 2018, down 15.3 percent from May but up 32.9 percent from June 2017 levels. By value, beam exports totaled $42.8 million in June, compared to $47.9 million in the previous month and $29.7 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most beam to Canada in June with 35,382 mt, compared to 40,817 mt in May and 26,822 mt in June 2017. Other destinations include Mexico, with 6,489 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US beam exports in June.
