According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of heavy structural shapes (including U, I, H, L, and T section beams) totaled 15,215 mt in January this year, decreasing by 0.8 percent compared to December and down 20.0 percent from January of the previous year. By value, beam exports totaled $23.62 million in January, compared to $25.42 million in the previous month and $20.97 million in the same month of 2025.
The US shipped the most beams to Canada in January with 11,793 mt, compared to 10,203 mt in December and 12,024 mt in January 2025. The other top destination was Mexico with 2,615 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US beam exports in January.
