Ukrainian steel pipe and railway wheel producer Interpipe temporarily suspended operations last week due to a shortage of scrap, according to media reports.

The country’s scrap imports have decreased significantly due to the negative effects of the war, while its scrap export have risen, SteelOrbis understands.

Meanwhile, the company has concluded long-term agreements with its scrap supplier partners to source needed raw material to restart operations. Interpipe will carry out maintenance works during this unplanned shutdown which is anticipated to last a week, with the expectation that the scrap procurement problem will be resolved in the coming period.
