In May this year, Turkey’s motor vehicle sales totaled 116,152 units, increasing by 70.3 percent year on year, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers’ Association (OSD). In the same month, Turkey’s passenger car sales totaled 87,218 units, up 68.5 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the January-May period of this year, Turkey’s motor vehicle sales amounted to 466,379 units, growing by 60.4 percent on year-on-year basis.
Turkey’s total motor vehicle exports in May amounted to 86,019 units, rising by 9.4 percent year on year, while passenger car exports totaled 58.456 units, up 21.5 percent, year on year. In the first five months of the current year, Turkey’s motor vehicle exports totaled 415,276 units, up 9.2 percent, while passenger car exports increased by 22.2 percent to 263,854 units, both year on year. In the same period, the country exported 122,169 small trucks, down 12.2 percent year on year. In the given period, revenues from total motor vehicle and component exports advanced by 15.9 percent to $14.66 billion, while the revenues from passenger car exports totaled $4.40 billion, rising by 21.7 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In May, Turkey’s total motor vehicle imports amounted to 74,329 units, rising by 85.6 percent year on year, while passenger car imports totaled 59,534 units, up 78 percent, year on year. In the January-May period of this year, the country’s total motor vehicle imports amounted to 282,343 units, moving up by 71.8 percent, while passenger car imports totaled 223.105 units, increasing by 65.7 percent, both compared to the same period of 2022.
