In June this year, Turkey’s motor vehicle sales totaled 114,999 units, increasing by 35.6 percent year on year and decreasing by 1.0 percent compared to the previous month, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers’ Association (OSD). In the same month, Turkey’s passenger car sales totaled 89,833 units, up 40.1 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the January-June period of this year, Turkey’s motor vehicle sales amounted to 581,109 units, growing by 54.7 percent on year-on-year basis.
In the first half of the current year, Turkey’s motor vehicle exports totaled 505,926 units, up 8.3 percent, while passenger car exports increased by 20.1 percent to 325,475 units, both year on year. In the same period, the country exported 145,317 small trucks, down 11.9 percent year on year. In the given period, revenues from total motor vehicle and component exports advanced by 14.6 percent to $17.72 billion, while the revenues from passenger car exports totaled $5.38 billion, rising by 20.0 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In June, Turkey’s total motor vehicle imports amounted to 70,013 units, rising by 61.8 percent year on year and down by 5.8 percent month on month, while passenger car imports totaled 59,158 units, up 68.3 percent year on year and down 0.6 percent month on month. In the January-June period of this year, the country’s total motor vehicle imports amounted to 352,108 units, moving up by 69.6 percent, while passenger car imports totaled 282,263 units, increasing by 66.2 percent, both compared to the same period of 2022.
