In April this year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales totaled 73,391 units, decreasing by 5.7 percent year on year, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the same month, Turkey's passenger car sales totaled 55,108 units, down 5.0 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the January-April period of this year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales amounted to 236,804 units, decreasing by 0.4 percent on year-on-year basis.
In the first four months of the current year, Turkey's motor vehicle exports totaled 461,495 units, down 2.4 percent, while passenger car exports decreased by 6.6 percent to 315,225 units, both year on year. In the same period, the country exported 125,724 small trucks, up 8.5 percent year on year. In the period in question, revenues from total motor vehicle and component exports increased by 20.2 percent to $11.34 billion, while the revenues from passenger car exports totaled $4.53 billion, rising by 14.1 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In April, Turkey's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 46,747 units, decreasing by 6.5 percent year on year, while passenger car imports totaled 37,464 units, down 7.5 percent, year on year. In the January-April period of this year, the country's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 147,145, falling by 2.8 percent, while passenger car imports totaled 118,424 units, declining by 1.9 percent, both compared to the same period of 2017.
