Turkish motor vehicle output up 15 percent in February

In February this year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 138,369 units, rising by 15 percent year on year and up 7.9 percent month on month, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the January-February period of this year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 266,490 units, up 22 percent year on year.
 
In February alone, passenger car output amounted to 97,129 units, increasing by 34 percent, while commercial vehicle output totaled 41,240 units, down 14 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In the first two months of this year, passenger car output totaled 190,812 units, up 46 percent, and commercial vehicle production amounted to 75,678 units, down 13 percent, both compared to the same period of 2016.
 
The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry was 86 percent in February this year, while the rate was 83 percent in the January-February period of the year.
