Turkey's steel import value down 18 percent in H1

According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in June this year the value of Turkey's iron and steel imports increased by 6.7 percent year on year, totaling $1.4 billion. In the given month, iron and steel ranked in fifth place among the most imported products of the country in terms of value. In the first half of this year, the value of Turkey's iron and steel imports totaled $6.48 billion, decreasing by 18 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
 
In June, the country's imports of articles of iron or steel, which ranked 13th among the products with the highest import value, amounted to $280.55 million, increasing by 12.1 percent year on year. In the first half of this year, Turkey's imports of articles of iron or steel were up 23.3 percent to $1.61 billion compared to the same period of 2015.
