Turkey's steel export value down 29 percent in 2015

According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in December last year Turkey's foreign trade deficit decreased by 27.4 percent to $6.18 billion compared to December 2014. In 2015, Turkey's foreign trade deficit decreased by 25.19 percent year on year to $63.27 billion.
 
In December, Turkey's iron and steel exports ranked sixth among the country's products with the highest export value, totaling $499.07 million, decreasing by 37.8 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the given month the value of exports of articles of iron or steel, which ranked eighth among the products with the highest export value, fell by 24.6 percent year on year, amounting to $439.68 million.
 
In 2015, Turkey's iron and steel export value decreased by 29 percent to $6.56 billion, while the value of its exports of articles of iron or steel declined by 13.9 percent to $5.47 billion, both year on year.
