According to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD), in September this year Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 102,744 units, decreasing by four percent year on year but almost triple compared to August this year, the holiday season for the motor vehicle sector.
In September, Turkey's passenger car output totaled 54,295 units - down five percent, its commercial vehicle production amounted to 45,348 units - down one percent, while tractor production amounted to 3,101 units - down 21 percent, all compared to September 2011.
The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry in August was 75 percent, up from 27 percent recorded in August this year. In the first nine months of the year, the production capacity utilization rate was 67 percent.
Meanwhile, in the first nine months of this year, the country's total motor vehicle output amounted to 828,690 units, down 10 percent year on year. Passenger car output in the given period totaled 428,194, while commercial vehicle production stood at 365,801 units, both decreasing 10 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
