Turkey's motor vehicle output down 10 percent in 2012

According to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD), in December 2012 Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 86,944 units, decreasing by 17 percent year on year and down by 13.7 percent from the month of November.

In December, Turkey's passenger car output totaled 44,708 units - down 12 percent, its commercial vehicle production came to 42,236 units - down 21 percent, while small truck production amounted to 37,108 units - down 19 percent, all compared to December 2011.

Meanwhile, in the whole year of 2012 the country's total motor vehicle output amounted to 1,072,987 units, down 10 percent year on year. In 2011, Turkey's total motor vehicle production had increased by nine percent year on year. Passenger car output in 2012 totaled 577,296 units, while commercial vehicle production declined to 495,682 units, both decreasing by 10 percent compared to 2011.
