Turkey’s HRC exports rise in February, supported by EU demand

In February this year, Turkey's total hot rolled coil (HRC) exports increased by 57.4 percent to 399,426 metric tons compared to January and up 29.3 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). These exports had a value of $212.6 million, rising by 51.3 percent month on month, while up 16.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.

In the given month, Italy and Spain supported Turkish HRC exports, with Italy’s HRC imports from Turkey increasing by almost 40 percent and Spain’s HRC imports rising by almost 80 percent, both month on month. HRC exports to Italy and Spain in February accounted for over 70 percent of Turkey’s total HRC exports in the month in question.

In the first two months of this year, Turkey's HRC exports amounted to 653,171 mt, up 28.3 percent, while the value of these exports increased by 18.6 percent to $353.16 million, both compared to the same period of 2018.
 
In the first two months of the current year, Italy ranked first among Turkey's HRC export destinations, with its HRC imports from Turkey amounting to 293,323 mt, followed by Spain which received 101,707 mt of HRC from Turkey in the given period.
