Turkey-based cold rolled coil and galvanized sheet producer Borcelik has announced that it has opened its new research and development (R&D) center, approved by Turkey’s Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, in Gemlik near the northwestern Turkish city of Bursa in order to develop innovative and high value-added (HVA) products and realize 4.0 Industrial Revolution transformation. With its new R&D center, Borcelik aims to supply new competitive products to its customers. In addition to developing high value-added products, the new center will also provide step-by-step digitalization in operational processes with the 4.0 Industrial Revolution transformation.
Borcelik managing director Kerem Cakir stated that, with its new design solution service, the company has also started to produce more customized, durable, cost-effective, lighter, environmentally-friendly products in line with its customers’ requirements. According to Mr. Cakir, with the 4.0 Industrial Revolution, Borcelik has digitalized processes that require complex planning, such as customer orders, raw material selection and procurement, inventory management, production planning, and product shipments.
In the current year, the company aims to achieve a turnover of TRY 1.26 billion, with export sales volume totaling 425,000 mt.
