Turkey's automotive sales up 1.6 percent in 2016

In December last year, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Turkey decreased by 9.1 percent year on year and were up by 16 percent month on month to 141,912 units, according to the statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Distributors Association (ODD). In the given month, domestic sales of passenger cars in Turkey decreased by 5.1 percent year on year and were up by 12.8 percent month on month to 108,044 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles decreased by 19 percent year on year and were up by 27.6 percent month on month to 33,868 units.
 
Meanwhile, in 2016 domestic sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles saw an increase of 1.6 percent year on year, amounting to 983,720 units. In the given year, domestic sales of passenger cars in the country increased by 4.3 percent to 756,938 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles fell by 6.4 percent to 226,782 units, both on year-on-year basis.
