According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in March this year the value of Turkey's iron and steel imports increased by 2.7 percent year on year, totaling $1.27 billion. In the given month, iron and steel ranked in fourth place among the most imported products of the country in terms of value. In the first three months, the value of Turkey's iron and steel imports totaled $3.85 billion, rising by 15.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
In March, the value of the country's imports of articles of iron or steel, which ranked 16th among the products with the highest import value, was up by 5.1 percent year on year, amounting to $229.37 million. In the first quarter of the year, the value of Turkey’s imports of articles of iron or steel increased by 7.9 percent year on year to $668.7 million.
