TUIK: Turkey’s steel export value down eight percent in Q1 2026

According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in March this year Turkey’s foreign trade deficit increased by 56.0 percent to $11.21 billion compared to March 2025. In the first quarter of this year, Turkey’s foreign trade deficit went up by 27.5 percent year on year to $28.67 billion.

In March, Turkey’s iron and steel exports ranked fifth among the country’s products with the highest export value, totaling $1.05 billion, up by 0.8 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the given month the value of exports of articles of iron or steel, which ranked seventh among the products with the highest export value, fell by 3.1 percent year on year, amounting to $806.02 million.

In the January-March period of this year, Turkey’s iron and steel export value was down by eight percent to $2.45 billion, while the value of its exports of articles of iron or steel increased by 0.7 percent to $2.27 billion, both year on year.
