Tianjin Metallurgy No. 1 Steel commissions phase 1 of welded pipe project

Chinese state-owned steelmaker Tianjin Metallugy No. 1 Steel Group has announced it has commissioned phase one of its 1 million mt annual capacity precision welded pipe project. The first phase has an annual output capacity of 550,000 mt.

Located in Wang Wen Zhuang Town Industrial Zone in the district of Xiqing in Tianjin, work commenced on the overall welded pipe project, which is project to cost RMB 2 billion ($315.94 million), in October 2010.

The first phase, in which capital investment has totaled RMB 1.05 billion ($165.87 million), consists of a 660 mm diameter ERW pipe production line with an annual output of 350,000 mt and a slitting production line with an output of 200,000 mt per year.

In addition, RMB 0.95 billion ($150.07 billion) will be invested in the second phase for the construction of a spiral welded tube production line with output of 200,000 mt per year, a tube processing production line with an annual output of 100,000 mt, and an anti-corrosion coated tube production line with an output of 150,000 mt per year.
