TCUD: Turkey’s steel import volume down 31 percent in January

In January this year, Turkey’s steel imports decreased by 31 percent to 963,000 mt, while the value of these imports moved down by 30 percent to $807 million, both year on year, as announced by the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD).

In the month of January, Turkey’s semi-finished steel imports decreased by 44 percent to 275,000 mt, while its flat steel imports fell by 25.2 percent to 538,000 mt, both compared to the same month of the previous year. In January, total long steel product imports were down by 11.3 percent to 95,000 mt, year on year.

In January, Turkey's steel export volume was equivalent to 174 percent of its steel import volume, compared to 111 percent in the same month of 2017.
