Taiwan scrap imports hit 2.74 million mt for first ten months

According to provisional customs data, Taiwan imported 2.74 million mt of ferrous scrap in the January to October 2018 period. In 2017, Taiwan imported 2.67 million mt of ferrous scrap and the ten-month total of 2.74 million mt has surpassed the full previous year’s imports.

Of the total, 1.28 million mt was from the US (47 percent), 0.36 million mt from Japan (13 percent), 0.14 million mt from Hong Kong (5 percent), 0.14 million mt from Australia (5 percent), 0.11 million mt from Canada (4 percent), 0.11 million mt from the Dominican Republic (4 percent), and 0.60 million mt from other countries (22 percent).
