Severstal delivers last LD pipes for Transneft’s BPS construction

The Russian steel producer Severstal has delivered the last batch of large diameter (LD) pipes to Russian state-owned oil transportation company Transneft for the construction of the second trunk line of the Baltic Pipeline System (BPS). The total volume of LD pipes shipped by Severstal for the construction of the first and second lines of the BPS oil pipeline has amounted to more than 75,000 mt.

Severstal started its first deliveries of LD pipes for the BPS oil pipeline in May last year. For BPS's second line, since November last year to April 2010 Severstal has shipped more than 46,000 mt of LD pipes. In addition, during this period, within the framework of supplies for Transneft's oil pipeline projects, Severstal has developed the production of 14 new types of pipes of 11 mm to 20 mm wall thickness.
