Russian steelmaker Severstal has announced that it has delivered more than 50,000 mt of hot-rolled pickled steel of the new M1 grade, intended for the production of tinplate, one of the most environmentally friendly packaging materials that is widely used in the food industry.

The company said that this new product was developed at the request of the Belarus-based tinplate manufacturer Miory Metal Rolling Plant. The previously completed investment measures at the rolling mill 2000 and the construction of a new continuous pickling unit No. 4 at the Cherepovets Iron and Steel Works made it possible to master it in accordance with high requirements for geometry and mechanical properties.

In 2022, Severstal increased the supply of the product by 2.5 times, remaining one of its key suppliers for its Belarusian partner. At the same time, the company sees prospects for further development of our presence in this market.
