Severstal controls thickness of rolled products and rolling tolerances with new system

Russian steelmaker Severstal has announced that it has introduced a fully automatic system at its mill 5000 in St. Petersburg for controlling the thickness of rolled products and has automated the system for assigning rolling tolerances.

The company stated that the system allows savings of about 45 kg of metal in rolling, resulting in total savings of RUB 16.8 million ($168,141) from September 2022 to August 2023.
