It also surpasses China (7.4 percent of the total imported), Japan (6.9 percent) and Germany (6.0 percent).

Bustamante said that the auto parts industry in Mexico received $398 million in Foreign Direct Investment in the first quarter, 29.4 percent or $166 million less than the same period last year.

The main investor was the United States with 67.0 percent of the investment, followed by Germany with 27.2 percent and the United Kingdom with 5.7 percent.
