New car registrations in Germany up 13 percent in April

In April this year, new passenger car registrations in Germany rose by 13.0 percent to 202,900 units compared to the same month of 2022, according to the data released by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). Meanwhile, in the first four months of this year, new passenger car registrations moved up by eight percent year on year to 869,800 units.

According to the VDA, in April new registrations of electric vehicles decreased by five percent year on year to 41,550 units. In the January-April period this year, new registrations of electric vehicles amounted to 173,900 units, moving down by 11.0 percent year on year.

In April, German passenger car manufacturers produced 321,000 units, up 24.0 percent compared to April 2022. In the first four months of the year, passenger car manufacturers produced 1,462,100 units, up 35.0 percent from the same period of last year.
