New car registrations in EU up 18.0 percent in January-May

In May this year, new passenger car registrations in the EU rose by 18.5 percent year on year to 938,950 units, according to the European association of car manufacturers ACEA.

In the given month, all major countries, including Italy (+23.1%), Germany (+19.2%), France (+14.8%) and Spain (+8.3%), reported positive results. 

In the first five months of this year, new car registrations grew by 18.0 percent year on year to 4,393,951 units. Spain saw the sharpest rise with an increase of 26.9 percent, followed by Italy (+26.1%), France (+16.3%) and Germany (+10.2%), year on year.
