New car registrations in EU up 17.9 percent in January-August

In August this year, new passenger car registrations in the EU rose by 21.0 percent year on year to 787,626 units, according to the European association of car manufacturers ACEA.

In the given month, three major countries, Germany (+37.5%), France (+20.2%) and Italy (+11.9%), reported positive results.  

In the first eight months of this year, new car registrations grew by 17.9 percent year on year to 7,226,618 units. Portugal saw the sharpest rise with an increase of 36.8 percent, followed by Croatia (+34.6%), Belgium (+34.1%) and the Netherlands (+30.1%), year on year.
