Russia-based iron ore and hot briquetted iron producer Metalloinvest has announced that it has signed an agreement with Chinese equipment manufacturer for the steel industry Lee Jun to collaborate on hot briquetted iron (HBI) production.

As part of the agreement, Lee Jun will provide supply and maintenance of briquette presses for the HBI production complex at Lebedinsky GOK.

“The partnership with Lee Jun is an important milestone in ensuring stable operation and technical development of HBI production, our flagship product, a low-carbon raw material for the production of green steel,” Oleg Krestinin, deputy general director and commercial director of Metalloinvest, said.

Currently, 16 briquette presses are in operation at Lebedinsky GOK.
