Japan’s ferroalloy imports up 21.2 percent in Oct over Sept

According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's ferroalloy imports totaled 135,680 metric tons in October this year, increasing by 21.2 percent month on month and down 1.5 percent compared to October 2011.

Meanwhile, in the first 10 months of 2012, Japan's ferroalloy imports amounted to 1.4 million metric tons, decreasing by five percent year on year.

In October, Japan's ferroalloy imports from Kazakhstan rose 12.7 percent compared to the same period last year to 32,625 metric tons, while China exported 28,600 mt of ferroalloy to Japan in October this year, up 13.4 percent year on year. Meanwhile, India's ferroalloy exports to Japan in the period in question rose by 39.5 percent year on year to 19,526 mt. On the other hand, in October the counrty's ferroalloy imports from South Africa fell 40.6 percent year on year to 18,800 mt.
