In July this year, Japanese crude steel production was down by 3.8 percent compared to the previous month and fell by two percent compared to July last year, totaling 8.42 million mt, according to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).
Meanwhile, in July of the current year Japan's pig iron production totaled 6.29 million metric tons, falling by 0.8 percent compared to the previous month and decreasing by 3.6 percent year on year.
In the January-July period of this year, the country's pig iron output stood at 45.53 million metric tons, down 0.4 percent, while its crude steel production came to 61.39 million metric tons, rising 0.8 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
