Italy’s industrial output index down 1.1% in Oct from Sept

In October this year, the seasonally adjusted index of Italian industrial production decreased by 1.1 percent compared to September and was down 6.2 percent compared to October 2011 when adjusted for calendar effects, according to ISTAT, Italy's national statistics office.
 
Meanwhile, in the August-October quarter Italy’s industrial production index decreased by 0.5 percent compared to the previous quarter. Moreover, in the first 10 months of the current year Italy’s industrial production index decreased by 6.5 percent compared to the same period of 2011.
 
The index for Italian metal and metal products production (except equipment and machinery) in October this year fell 1.3 percent compared to September and was up 0.4 percent in the August-October quarter compared to the previous quarter. Meanwhile, on year-on-year basis, the index was down 6.4 percent in October and decreased by 7.4 percent in January-October.
