ISG hikes plate prices and surcharges

Cleveland based steel producer International Steel Group (ISG) announced that it increases prices of steel plate by $30 to $50 per ton to be in effect for shipments as of May 30, 2004. Moreover, surcharge on raw materials for plate, with an increase of $27 will be $132 per ton for April deliveries. The price of commodity plate will be increased by $30 per ton, making the base price on carbon steel grades $530 per ton. The price of alloy plate, with an increase of $50 will be $730 per ton. Apart from these increases, ISG is stated to be planning to increase prices of steel sheet for non-contract business by $30 to $40 per ton to be in effect for deliveries as of May 3, 2004 and the surcharge on raw materials for steel sheet will be increased by $10 per ton, making the sucharge on raw material for sheet $100 per ton.
